Vice President Kamala Harris, following her loss to Donald Trump in the recent presidential election, is carefully considering her next political move, according to reports. While spending her final months as vice president in Hawaii, Harris has been instructing advisers to keep options open for her future, which could include a 2028 presidential run or a bid for California governor in two years. Despite the setback, Harris remains resolute, telling allies, “I am staying in the fight,” as she deliberates her path forward with family over the holiday season.
Harris and her team are also strategizing how she can reassert her influence within the Democratic Party, including plans to speak out against Trump. She will close out her vice presidency by presiding over the certification of the election she lost and attending Trump’s inauguration. Moving forward, Harris is expected to establish a platform that allows her to maintain political relationships and remain active on the national stage, signaling her determination to shape her legacy and future impact.
Now, a prominent Democratic strategist has raised concerns about the vice president running again in 2028, advising against such a move. Speaking on Newsmax’s “National Report,” strategist Theryn Bond expressed a clear stance on Harris’s political future: stay away.
When asked about Harris’s ambitions, Bond stated plainly, “Not to run for president again in 2028. Please don’t.” Harris, who lost the 2024 presidential election to President-elect Donald Trump, has largely stayed out of the spotlight since her defeat. Despite this, speculation continues about her next steps, with possibilities ranging from a 2028 presidential campaign to a gubernatorial run in California in 2026.
“I hope [Kamala Harris] doesn’t [run for president in ’28]. And if she is relying on those same advisers that advised her this cycle, that’s not who I would listen to.”

While Bond refrained from predicting Harris’s chances in a potential race for governor, she acknowledged that Harris has historically enjoyed significant support in her home state. However, she also questioned whether that backing has eroded following the 2024 loss. Bond criticized the advisers who shaped Harris’s most recent campaign, cautioning against relying on them for future political endeavors. “If she is relying on those same advisers that advised her this cycle, that’s not who I would listen to,” Bond remarked.
Her advisers recently talked to the liberal podcast Pod Save America about the campaign, blaming Hurricanes Milton and Helene for Harris’ struggles rather than the fact that she couldn’t speak coherently about any of the struggles facing Americans.
Republican strategist Luke Ball, who also appeared on the program, shared a similarly skeptical view of Harris’s political future. While conceding that Harris might maintain an advantage in California, he was doubtful about her prospects on a national level. “I think she might have a hand up in California because that’s one of the only states where she might actually have an edge,” Ball said, adding that her appeal outside the state appears limited.
Ball also criticized the Democratic campaign strategy in the 2024 election, pointing to the massive debt she accrued for her party despite raising over a billion dollars. “If I’m a donor, if I’m a Democrat, I’m looking at this race and the aftermath, and I’m seeing that we’re paying millions of dollars to celebrities to astroturf the campaign instead of spending that money on critical resources,” he argued.
Although Harris has reportedly told her advisers she plans to “stay in the fight,” the comments from both strategists underscore growing doubts about her ability to regain a prominent role on the national stage. Whether she ultimately pursues the governor’s mansion in California or other political opportunities, her next moves will likely draw significant attention.
Vice President Kamala Harris shared a message of encouragement with her supporters on Tuesday, November 26, in a public service announcement following Donald Trump’s election to office. While many focused on the content of her remarks, some speculated about Harris’s emotional state during the address, with some charging that the vice president was drunk when she made the video.
In the video, posted to the Democratic Party’s account Twitter account, Harris delivered an empowering reminder. “I just have to remind you: Don’t you ever let anybody take your power from you,” she declared. “You have the same power that you did before November 5, and you have the same purpose that you did. And you have the same ability to engage and inspire, so don’t ever let anybody or any circumstance take your power from you.”

Some have argued that the Democratic Party purposely put the alleged drunken video out on purpose, hoping it will end Harris’ career once and for all.
