Harris Telling Muslims One Thing, Jews Another

Throughout the campaign Kamala harris has been called out for never giving specifics or refusing to give a definitive answer duing the rare times she speaks with the media.

Yesterday, for example, when the issue of criminal justice came up regarding a ballot measure in her home state of California, Harris refused to get into specifics and got flustered, wrote The Associated Press.

“Vice President Kamala Harris on Sunday declined to say how she voted on a key ballot measure in her home state of California that would reverse criminal justice reforms approved in recent years.

Harris punted on a question about the ballot initiative in comments to reporters while campaigning in the battleground state of Michigan. She also confirmed, two days before Election Day, that she had “just filled out” her mail-in ballot and it was “on its way to California.”

“I am not going to talk about the vote on that. Because honestly it’s the Sunday before the election and I don’t intend to create an endorsement one way or another around it,” said Harris, a former San Francisco district attorney, California attorney general and U.S. senator before she was elected vice president in 2020.

The decision by the Democratic nominee for president not to publicly stake out a position on the high-profile initiative could leave her open to criticism from Republican Donald Trump that she is being soft on crime and from some left-leaning voters who would like to see her speak out forcefully against what they perceive as draconian anticrime efforts.”

Now, CNN has caught the Harris camapaign talking out of both sides of her mouth when it comes to Israel and the war in Gaza. The vice president has begun a tailored advertising approach in Pennsylvania and Michigan, emphasizing different parts of her stance on the Israel-Gaza conflict to appeal to diverse voter bases in these pivotal states.

Ads running in Pennsylvania, where undecided Jewish voters could factor into the state’s outcome, highlight how she will “stand up for Israel’s right to defend itself.” Meanwhile, ads targeted in Michigan, with its large Arab American population, highlight how “she will not be silent about the human suffering occurring in Gaza.”

Facebook advertisements aimed at voters in Pennsylvania play a video of her speech at the Democratic National Committee on defending Israel.

“And let me be clear,” Harris says in the ad. “I will always stand up for Israel’s right to defend itself, and I will always ensure Israel has the ability to defend itself, because the people of Israel must never again face the horror that a terrorist organization called Hamas caused on October 7, including unspeakable sexual violence and the massacre of young people at a music festival.

“And know this: I will never hesitate to take whatever action is necessary to defend our forces and our interests against Iran and Iran-backed terrorists,” Harris says.

But edited from the ads are two paragraphs from her speech between those lines that highlighted the “suffering” in Gaza which she called “heartbreaking.”

The Democratic Party, under pressure from Republicans capitalizing on internal divisions, faces scrutiny over its handling of the Israel-Gaza conflict. Harris has been personally protested several times by Pro-Palestine activists, and recently, the only Palestinian in Congress, Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib, refused to back her party’s nominee.

A GOP-linked group, Future Coalition PAC, has spent over $1.6 million in states like Wisconsin and Michigan to oppose Harris and support Donald Trump, as well as Green Party candidate Jill Stein. This group has launched ads accusing Harris of both “pandering to Palestine” and standing too closely with Israel, tailoring these opposing messages to Jewish and Muslim voters, respectively.

Trump has received several endorsements from the Muslim community, while last month, the Harris campaign kicked a Muslim out of a rally in Michigan without providing him an explanation.
