In August, after she snatched the nomination away from Joe Biden, the vice president had the biggest decision of her life ahead of her: whom would she want for her own vice president?
The New York Times wrote at the time that she gathered her advisers in the Naval Observatory to make the call. “Her team had just wrapped up the fastest, most intensive vetting of potential running mates in modern history, a blitz of paperwork and virtual interviews that had concluded only on Friday. The advisers were there to present their findings on a list that still technically ran six deep to Ms. Harris, who had less than 72 hours to sift through it to make her final decision.
One by one, the circle of her most trusted confidants ran through the pros and cons of each possible No. 2. The sessions went long enough to be broken up with sandwiches and salads as the team eventually focused on the three men she would meet the next day for what would prove to be pivotal in-person interviews: Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota, Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona and Gov. Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania.
Polls had been conducted. Focus groups had been commissioned. Records reviewed. And the upshot, Ms. Harris was told, was this: She could win the White House with any of the three finalists by her side.
Ms. Harris had bypassed a Democratic primary race, securing the nomination almost seamlessly and instantly after Mr. Biden stepped aside. But in some ways the vice-presidential sweepstakes had played out as a primary in miniature: progressives lining up with the folksy Mr. Walz and his liberal accomplishments in Minnesota, while pragmatists drooled over Mr. Shapiro’s soaring approval ratings and Mr. Kelly’s sterling astronaut-turned-senator résumé.”
Later, during one of her few interviews, Harris explained that “probably the biggest gut decision I’ve made most recently is to choose my running mate.”
Now she appears to have heartburn.
As polling has shown her lose her grip on the White House, the Democratic nominee appears to have major regrets and wishes she’d never picked Walz.
On Friday, while the Minnesota governor was insulting their base by attacking Elon Musk as “gay,” Kamala Harris sat side by side with Josh Shapiro, filming an ad for the all-important state of Pennsylvania, reported The Hill.
The 30-second ad was narrated by Shapiro, who was once a front-runner for Harris’s running mate spot before she chose Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D).
This election, it’s bigger than us. It’s about the future. Do you want more chaos or, like me, are you ready for some common sense? That’s why I’m with Kamala. I’ve known her for two decades, she’s practical and she gets stuff done,” the governor says, sitting next to Harris.
Harris adds, “As president, I will chart a new way forward and find solutions to create jobs and bring down costs.”
The vice president will spend Monday in Pennsylvania to close out the campaign, traveling to Allentown, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia for rallies. Trump also will be in Pennsylvania on Monday.

Walz has struggled as Harris’ running mate and has been plagued by stories about his odd connections to China while unsuccessfully wooing men to the Harris camp.
The latest embarrassment for the Minnesota governor came as he has tried to play up his “coach” moniker, referencing his short stint as a football coach while he taught high school.
The problem is that it doesn’t look like he knows much about football.
Huddle up, team. It’s the final quarter.
We’ve got the ball and we’re driving down field. And boy, do we have the team to win this.

His tweet, which was mocked by former Auburn football coach, Senator Tommy Tubberville, came on the heels of the Democrat weirdly playing “Madden” with AOC while NFL games were on last Sunday.
Following playing one half against the New York firebrand, which ended in a zero to zero tie, Walz tweeted that Ocasio-Cortez “could run a mean pick 6,” appearing to confuse an interception with running a defense.

Are we sure Tim Walz has even watched a game of football, let alone coached a team? pic.twitter.com/6d8OOEkckK

No wonder Harris is keeping Walz tucked away in Wisconsin the day before the election.
