By The knives are out for Joe Biden, and suddenly, the media and some Democrats can’t get enough stories showing how frail the president has become.
No one appears to be working harder to overthrow Biden than Mark Warner, a senator from Virginia.
The Washington Post reported that Warner “is attempting to assemble a group of Democratic senators to ask President Biden to exit the presidential race, according to two people with direct knowledge of the effort.
Warner is telling Democratic senators that Biden can no longer remain in the election in the wake of his faltering debate performance, according to the people familiar with private conversations who spoke on the condition of anonymity to speak freely. Warner has told others that he is deeply concerned that Biden is not able to run a campaign that could beat former president Donald Trump.
Biden told reporters he had spoken with at least 20 members of Congress and that they’re all telling him “to stay in the race.” When asked about Warner’s concerns, Biden said he was the “only” one pushing for him to step aside. “No one else is calling on me to do that,” he said.”
Biden dismissed the move from the senator during his ABC News interview with George Stephanopoulos, with the president pointing out that Warner was merely a failed presidential candidate.
The New York Times spoke to someone close to the president who agrees with Warner, telling the newspaper that it’s time to step aside.
One senior White House official, however, who has worked with Mr. Biden during his presidency, vice presidency and 2020 campaign, said in an interview on Saturday morning that Mr. Biden should not seek re-election.
After watching Mr. Biden in private, in public and while traveling with him, the official said they no longer believed the president had what it took to campaign in a vigorous way and defeat Donald J. Trump. The official, who insisted on anonymity in order to continue serving, said Mr. Biden had steadily showed more signs of his age in recent months, including speaking more slowly, haltingly and quietly, as well as appearing more fatigued in private.
For years, Democratic officials have largely limited their concerns about Mr. Biden’s age and abilities to quiet conversations, though many voters have loudly expressed their reservations about nominating someone who would be 86 by the end of a second term. But in the days since the first presidential debate in June and what some Democrats have described as the campaign’s weak attempt at damage control, the whispered anxieties are turning into a whirlwind of action, though where it will all lead is an open question.
Many Democrats who believe Mr. Biden should exit the race stress their personal affection and respect for him, describing a sense of genuine sadness.
Note that these same people did not mention these issues before the debate. It only became a problem when Biden’s cognitive weaknesses made it more difficult for him to beat Trump.
The country and “democracy” did not matter when Biden had polls showing him leading, or at least in contention, with Donald Trump.
Biden’s mental stumbles, which have been happening for years and has been documented by New Conservative Post and other conservative outlets, have suddenly made it to the mainstream presses now that Democrats want him gone.
Here are some recent examples: Insiders told The Washington Post that donors were left disturbed after Biden described a French cemetery in Normandy as ‘Italian’ at a fundraiser in the Hamptons.
The Daily Mail noted that after the president “made an appearance at the New Jersey governor’s private villa, sources said he spoke so softly that a crowd of 50 people had to crane their necks to hear him speak from a teleprompter.”
Then, later in the week, Biden confused himself with his Vice President Kamala Harris in an interview with Philadelphia’s WURD, saying. “By the way, I’m proud to be, as I said, the first vice president, first black woman… to serve with a black president,” and that he remains “proud to be involved of the first black woman on the Supreme Court. There’s so much that we can do because, look… we’re the United States of America.”
The president has insisted that the poor debate performance was just “one bad night.” He has claimed he was tired from traveling two weeks before and blamed his problems on having a cold.
