Despite being shackled and having to stay in New York because of Democratic lawfare, former President Donald Trump has been hosting large rallies around the New York City area, but none have been bigger than the one held in New Jersey on Saturday.
America’s News Desk reported that “for the first time in a long time, it felt like 2016 again for Donald Trump. The former president attracted a “massive crowd” to a small beach town in New Jersey on Saturday, with attendance estimates ranging from 80,000 to 100,000 people.
Trump stirred up a lively rally in New Jersey, boldly predicting a landslide victory in the Garden State, which a Republican hasn’t won in decades.
“As you can see today, we’re expanding the electoral map because … we’re going to win the state of New Jersey,” Trump told the crowd. “I think we’re going to win them all. All across America, millions of people, so-called blue states, are joining our movement based on love, intelligence, and a thing called common sense.”
Trump went after Biden’s economic and border policies.
“The Biden price hikes are continuing to drain over $1,000 from the typical New Jersey family budget every single month,” Trump said, noting that the price of everything from hot dogs, to chicken, to gasoline and bacon, has gone up because of inflation.“
The former president also landed a surprise endorsement from a football legend.
Trump also called up former NFL linebacker and New York Giants legend Lawrence Taylor to the stage, who offered a full endorsement of the former president as the crowd roared.
Trump was in Wildwood, New Jersey, addressing the crowd when he gave up the podium to Taylor. The two shared a hug before Taylor spoke to the crowd himself, The Washington Examiner wrote.
“I just wanted to say, I grew up a Democrat — and I’ve always been a Democrat — until I met this man right here,” Taylor said, gesturing to Trump, “He will not have to worry about nobody in my family will ever vote for a Democrat again.”
Taylor played 12 years for the the New York Giants. He won two Super Bowls in that time. NFL running back Ottis Anderson also took the podium and commented on the crowd’s enthusiasm. Anderson did not offer an explicit endorsement for Trump.
This comes as Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) has suggested “four out of 10 black men wanting to vote for the Republican Party, doubling the number of black women interested in voting for the Republican Party.”
Many of those who attended the massive rally “said they believe Trump could flip the Garden State in November, when he hopes to take back the White House for a second term.
Rod Delaine, an Amazon factory worker in Staten Island who lives in New Jersey, told Fox News Digital he drove nearly 2½ hours to attend the rally.
A New Jersey schoolteacher who identified herself as Anna said she was motivated to attend because of the state of the economy,” according to Fox News.
Another supporter named Carlos explained to Fox News that he thought the country needed to return to the way things were under Trump.
“I think this country needs to change. Although, we already know what Trump’s all about. So, that change is just going to come right back to us because that’s what we need,” Carlos said. “We need Trump because I don’t think Biden is just getting the job done right now. Some of it’s his fault. Some of it is probably the people around him. But I think we need Trump back to get this country back to where it needs to be.”
A recent poll by The Financial Times said that roughly 80 percent of voters state that the face challenges from high prices that have occurred during Biden’s term.
A recent poll of New Jersey revealed that the Republican nominee is within striking distance in the Garden State, showing him only down 5 percent with Biden only garnering 41 percent of the vote.
Democrats have firmly held New Jersey over the past two and a half decades, winning the state by double digits every four years, but this year, the party has been racked by scandal wherein a powerful Democratic senator was caught selling favors to foreign countries.
The last Republican to win New Jersey was George H.W. Bush in 1988.
