The mainstream media and the ‘Hamas Caucus’ in the House of Representatives, in a race to try and Israel and Hamas moral equivalents, ended up pushing a lie on the world that will ultimately lead to more casualties and risk the ongoing war in the Middle East spin out of control.
Yesterday, in the middle of the night, an explosion happened near a hospital in Gaza, with Hamas claiming that Israel murdered 500 people. Without any hint of skepticism, outlets like The New York Times and reporters like Ben Collins from NBC News, a disinformation reporter, and Adam Elmahrek from the Los Angeles Times, to name a few, immediately began pushing Hamas propaganda, leading to riots and other Middle Eastern governments abandoning meeting with Joe Biden.

The problem is that what they and their colleagues were reporting was completely fabricated.
Noah Rothman at The National Review explains how despicable and purposeful the media acted: “The New York Times, Reuters, the Associated Press, PBS, the BBC, and many others raced to repeat with utterly undue credulity the claim that Israeli forces wantonly attacked a hospital, producing upwards of 500 fatalities. The allegation alone shook the world. European and Middle Eastern streets erupted with anti-Israel demonstrations. Diplomatic facilities belonging to Israel and the United States alike were besieged by sometimes violent demonstrators. Jewish — not Israeli — sites were attacked. Meetings between Joe Biden and his counterparts in Jordan, Egypt, and the Palestinian Authority were canceled in protest. And now, not 24 hours later, the story that they ran with looks to have been a lie. Worse, it was a lie that anyone with an elementary background understanding of the decades-old conflict in the Palestinian territories knew was likely to be a lie at the time.
A survey of the evidence the Israeli government has presented to the public and submitted to the United States for its own independent review presents an uncomplicated version of events. Footage from multiple angles of the Gaza Strip shows at least one missile in an outgoing barrage directed toward Israel failing and descending back onto Gazan territory — hardly an uncommon occurrence given the unreliability of the artillery rockets deployed by terrorist outfits in the Strip. Israel Defense Forces have since released intercepted communications between Hamas terrorists confirming that one of Islamic Jihad’s errant rockets landed “on the right side of the al-Ma’amadani hospital.” Images of the site of the blast show no suggestions that high-power munitions were detonated there. Rather, they reveal a parking lot with various damaged vehicles but no cratering, no rubble, and no evidence of the hundreds of casualties the notoriously unreliable Gaza Health Ministry breathlessly retailed within just minutes of the blast.
On the ground in Israel, Joe Biden has confirmed that the hospital attack was committed “by the other team,” a predictable short-round episode that happens when Hamas and Islamic Jihad take up firing positions deep inside civilian territory and use civilian infrastructure as shields. Nor have we seen much equivocation about Israel’s relative complicity in the deaths of average Gazans more generally. “We have seen them, I think, be very deliberate about where they are striking, continuing to target Hamas locations and away from civilians,” said Pentagon deputy press secretary Sabrina Singh on Tuesday, when asked by reporters if Israel has thus far “upheld the laws of war.” It took administration officials a few tense hours to issue statements of this deservedly unequivocal nature, but that’s only because they took the time to review the evidence before rendering a potentially history-altering verdict.
This episode represents a black mark upon the media outlets that bent over backward to fill in the obvious gaps in Hamas’s narrative with conjecture presented as absolute fact. According to the most-read story in the Irish Times this morning, “Hundreds [are] still trapped in the rubble.” But what rubble? “It is hard to see what else this could be really given the size of the explosion other than an Israeli airstrike or several airstrikes,” said one BBC presenter on Tuesday, for example. Yes, if Hamas and its terrorist allies were being honest, that’s a likely conclusion to draw. But why on earth would you assume that Hamas and its allies were being honest? Moreover, what other conclusions might we draw about the veracity of the exquisitely precise casualty figures the Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza produces, all of which purport to tally civilian death tolls, when infinitely more transparent Israel spent the better part of a week totaling the dead from the October 7 attack?
This was no harmless mistake. It was not an accident. This calumny wasn’t attributable to the fog of war or a misstep by the citizen journalists on social media whom professional reporters look upon with contempt. Had the press responded to Hamas’s claims with some incredulity, cautioned patience, and waited mere hours to confirm events as they occurred, this could have been avoided. But every basic journalistic best practice was thrown out the window in pursuit of nothing more than a sordid little narrative.”
It wasn't an Israeli strike it was a failed launch by a Palestinian terrorist group.
The hospital wasn't destroyed it was slightly damaged from the outside.

Rothman is right that this cannot be blamed on the “fog of war,” an idea CNN started pushing immediately after realizing they had published a lie from Hamas propaganda. The news channel writes, “A series of high-stakes claims emerged Tuesday amid the roiling Israel-Hamas war, presenting one of the thorniest challenges yet to newsrooms trying to make sense of the chaos and provide clarity to the world as it watches the deadly conflict unfold.
In the immediate aftermath of the deadly hospital explosion, some of the world’s biggest and most reputable news organizations uncritically echoed claims from the Hamas-run Palestinian government, which assigned fault for the carnage on Israel. Some news organizations even definitively stated that Israel was responsible in their first reports.”
This was not a misunderstanding. It was a purposeful lie aimed at undermining Israel’s response to the largest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. There was no explosion at the hospital. There were no deaths. A Palestinian rocket hit a parking lot. The likely crater from “the bombing” was merely a meter wide.

To make matters worse, though not surprising, members of Congress, part of the far-left “Squad,” immediately blamed Israel for Hamas and its allies bombing its own citizens.
The New York Post writes, Far-left Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) and Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) have stood by social media posts blaming Israel for a deadly explosion at a Gaza hospital, even after President Biden and other US officials stated that evidence showed Palestinian terror groups were responsible.
“Israel just bombed the Baptist Hospital killing 500 Palestinians (doctors, children, patients) just like that,” Tlaib posted on X at roughly 2 p.m. Tuesday, before blaming the president for not helping “to facilitate a ceasefire.”
Israel just bombed the Baptist Hospital killing 500 Palestinians (doctors, children, patients) just like that. @POTUS this is what happens when you refuse to facilitate a ceasefire & help de-escalate.
Your war and destruction only approach has opened my eyes and many… https://t.co/mZYoifT7bj

‘Your war and destruction only approach has opened my eyes and many Palestinian Americans and Muslims Americans like me,” she added. “We will remember where you stood.’
An hour later, Omar also held Biden responsible for not pushing ‘an immediate ceasefire to end this slaughter.’
‘Bombing a hospital is among the gravest of war crimes,’ she said on X. ‘The IDF reportedly blowing up one of the few places the injured and wounded can seek medical treatment and shelter during a war is horrific.’”
Despite definitive proof and the United States confirming that Israel did not bomb the hospital, the two “Hamas Caucus” members refuse to back down, refusing to delete their posts.

The claims from the media and the members of Congress sparked protests throughout the world from opponents of Israel waiting for a reason to come out and support Jewish genocide.

The worst result from the lies of ‘The Squad’ and their allies in the media came in the form of threats against the American embassy in Lebanon.

In the aftermath of the fake “bombing” and protests that followed, Americans in Lebanon were told to leave and the American embassy was attacked by a mob.
The US has warned Americans not to travel to Lebanon after the Beirut embassy was set on fire. The Independent reported, “Family members of US government personnel and non-essential embassy staff were allowed to leave Lebanon after the embassy in Beirut was targeted by protestors who started a fire at the complex.
Hours after the protest began, the State Department issued a ‘do not travel’ advisory “due to the unpredictable security situation related to rocket, missile, and artillery exchanges between Israel and Hizballah or other armed militant factions,” according to the advisory.
‘On October 17, 2023, the Department authorized the voluntary, temporary departure of family members of US government personnel and some non-emergency personnel from US Embassy Beirut due to the unpredictable security situation in Lebanon,” the announcement stated.
The advisory noted that ‘large demonstrations have erupted in the wake of recent violence in Israel and Gaza.’”
Hundreds of protesters waving Palestinian flags gathered late into Tuesday night outside the U.S. embassy in response to the incident, according to Reuters. Americans needed to defend the building and its people by deploying tear gas as the crowd allegedly threw Molotov cocktails.
Omar and Tlaib’s lying has led to demands for them to be expelled from Congress for threatening the lives of Americans abroad.
Tlaib has to be put up for expulsion. I realize being Palestinian has allowed her to get away with just about anything, but this is too far. She's outwardly supporting a terrorist group in order to push lies that are getting people killed and causing an international crisis.

So much for being worried about “disinformation.”
