It was one of the most cynical deployments of American military power in history, and Joe Biden’s blunder in the Middle East has proven to have disastrous consequences. American military officials announced on Monday that a soldier injured during a humanitarian mission in Gaza over the summer has died. Sgt. Quandarius Davon Stanley, 23, passed away on October 31, months after sustaining severe injuries during a non-combat incident while supporting aid efforts.
CNN reported that Stanley was recently medically retired by his unit because his injuries meant he would be unable to continue military service, a defense official said. He died on October 31.
“Stanley was injured while supporting the mission that delivered humanitarian aid to Gaza in May 2024 and was receiving treatment in long-term care medical center,” Capt. Shkeila Milford-Glover, a spokesman for the 3rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command, said Monday.
“Sgt Quandarius Stanley was an instrumental and well respected first line leader in the 7th Transportation Brigade Expeditionary (TBX), especially during the mission to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza,” Col. John “Eddie” Gray, commander of the 7th TBX, said Monday. “We will continue to provide support to his family during this difficult time. Our entire unit mourns alongside his family.”
It’s unclear how exactly Stanley was injured, though officials have emphasized that it was not combat related. Stanley’s injury — as well as the minor injuries of the two other troops — were first confirmed by Vice Adm. Bradley Cooper, deputy commander of US Central Command, who told reporters in May one individual was “undergoing care at an Israeli local hospital. He was injured out on a ship at sea.”
Under pressure from radical anti-Israel liberals in the United States, Biden announced that the American military would be building a pier in Gaza to help deliver “humanitarian supplies.”
New Conservative Post noted in May 2024 that the president has placed the lives of American troops in danger to deliver almost nothing to the Palestinians, according to new analysis of Biden’s latest pet project to help him get votes in Michigan and Minnesota.
“With the crisis in Gaza worsening, a private humanitarian group staffed with former military and intelligence officials stumbled upon a surprising hurdle in its efforts to help the United States government rush supplies to Palestinian residents by boat: For several weeks, there was little to no aid ready to move.
Fogbow, an independent outfit, said it had expected there would be large-scale donations of food, medicine and other supplies piling up at a port in Cyprus, where aid was supposed to be staged and screened by the Israelis before being shipped to the Gaza coast via a U.S.-built pier known as JLOTs, or the Joint Logistics Over-the-Shore capability.
When that aid didn’t materialize, Fogbow officials knocked on the doors of several local flour mills in Cyprus — eventually purchasing nearly 2.5 million pounds of flour that it now plans to ship in early June,” reported ABC News, commenting that the pier has “had a slow start.”
After a few weeks, Biden’s pier began to break apart and had to be dissembled and taken away. Much of the aid didn’t make it to Gazans anyway. According to reports, Hamas stole a huge portion of the aid delivered to Gaza to help maintain their control and help fund their military operations.
