An Afghan national accused of planning an ISIS-inspired terror attack on Election Day in the U.S. was once employed by the CIA as a security guard in Afghanistan, according to a new report. Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, 27, was arrested in Oklahoma on Monday over his alleged involvement in the plot.

Tawhedi, who arrived in the U.S. in 2021 on a special immigrant visa, had previously worked as a security guard for the CIA, NBC News reported, citing unnamed sources.

“Every Afghan resettled in the U.S. undergoes a rigorous screening and vetting process no matter which agency they worked with,” the official said. “That process includes checking against a full range of U.S. records and holdings,” the official told NBC News.

Apparently, they weren’t vetted well enough.

CNN writes that the FBI arrested 27-year-old Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi in Oklahoma on Monday after he purchased rifles and ammunition from an undercover law enforcement officer. He is facing several charges, including conspiring and attempting to provide material support to ISIS.

Partnering with an unnamed juvenile, Tawhedi planned to liquidate his assets, repatriate his family to Afghanistan, purchase assault rifles and “stage a violent attack” in the US, court documents say. The juvenile has also been arrested, according to court documents.

The indictment comes as the Justice Department has publicly – and repeatedly – said its focus is on protecting the November presidential election from foreign threats. Tawhedi’s alleged plot, which prosecutors say was aimed at targeting “large gatherings of people,” was foiled less than a month before voters head to the polls.

Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray lauded federal law enforcement for disrupting the plot. Garland said the Justice Department will continue to “identify, investigate, and prosecute the individuals who seek to terrorize the American people.”

At the time of his arrest, Tawhedi was living in Oklahoma City under parole status, awaiting the conclusion of his immigration proceedings. The Department of Homeland Security’s parole program allows eligible Afghans who assisted U.S. forces to apply for entry to the U.S. along with their families.

Authorities have not revealed how Tawhedi became eligible for the visa, or how he and his alleged plot were discovered. According to charging documents, Tawhedi told investigators he intended to carry out his attack on Election Day next month, with plans to die as a martyr alongside a co-conspirator. He had reportedly taken several steps to prepare for the attack, including ordering AK-47 rifles, liquidating family assets, and purchasing one-way tickets for his wife and child to return to Afghanistan.

The planned terror attack serves as just another prediction that Donald Trump made about the Biden presidency that ended up coming true.

Former President Donald Trump and Republican lawmakers claim that under President Joe Biden’s administration, the border crisis has escalated into a serious national security threat. They highlight an increase in migrants from China, particularly military-age males, crossing the southern border illegally since 2021. Additionally, the number of individuals on the U.S. terrorist watch list encountered by Border Patrol has surged, rising from single digits during the Trump years to 172 in fiscal year 2023.

This rise isn’t just due to more illegal immigration; the proportion of encounters involving someone on the terrorist watch list has grown over tenfold, from 0.0007% to 0.008%, according to The Christian Science Monitor.

Last year New Conservative Post revealed that one of the administration officials designing the Biden-Harris border policy had previously celebrated terrorism.
