By Former President Donald Trump and Georgia Governor Brian Kemp have not always seen eye to eye.
Earlier in the month, Trump rankled some feathers and made Republicans nervous when he began attacking the top Georgia Republican at a rally in Atlanta.
Business Insider noted that “Trump’s decision to blast Kemp and his wife, Georgia First Lady Marty Kemp, during a rally in Atlanta, is indicative of a campaign that has lost its footing since President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 race.
‘I don’t want her endorsement. I don’t want his endorsement. I just want them to do their job for Georgia,’ Trump said of the Kemps during an August 3rd rally in Atlanta. ‘In my opinion, they want us to lose.'”
Trump also called Kemp a ‘bad guy’ and a ‘very average governor.’ Neither Kemp supported Trump during the GOP presidential primary. Marty Kemp said in April she would write her husband’s name in instead of Trump this November. Gov. Kemp has endorsed Trump and has moved to turn the page.”
Breitbart reports that despite butting heads, Georgia’s powerful governor intends to everything he can to help Trump pull in the Peach State’s important 16 Electoral Votes.
Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) is ready to put his “political machine” behind former President Donald Trump in Georgia, according to Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC).
Graham told Fox News’s Hannity Thursday night that he attended a fundraiser in Atlanta on Wednesday, where Kemp vowed to aid Trump in the Peach State against Vice President Kamala Harris.
“When [Kemp] spoke, the first thing out of his mouth, he looked at everybody in the room and said, ‘I want Donald Trump to win Georgia. I’m all in for Donald Trump. I’m going to give him my political machine,’” Graham recounted
“I’ve got a great ground game, Imma put money behind it, and we’re going to win Georgia for Trump because Harris is a disaster for Georgia,” Kemp added, according to Graham.

In 2016, Trump won Georgia, defeating Hillary Clinton, who had unsuccessfully run for president twice, by a margin of 5.1 percentage points. However, in 2020, Trump narrowly lost the state to Biden by less than a quarter of one percent.
During his press conference on Thursday, Trump was asked if his relationship with Kemp could be fixed.
“Thank you, sir. Your campaign is targeting Pennsylvania in Georgia, and if you get those two, you could seal the deal. That’s what they say. How important is it to you, and is it salvageable for you to be able to repair the relationship with Governor Kemp in Georgia?” Fox News Aishah Hasnie asked, according to Mediate.
“I don’t know. I don’t know if I can or not. I got him elected without me. He wouldn’t be governor. I got him elected. He was doing terribly. I got him elected,” began Trump – who made headlines over the weekend for attacking Kemp and his wife. Kemp publicly hit back at Trump and demanded the former president not attack his family.
“With that being said, I hope we can repair it. But if we don’t, the people are still the people and they’re going to vote. We’re leading in Georgia by a lot,” Trump continued, adding:
Trump may need all the help he can get. Kamala Harris has surged to the lead over the past three weeks as media has pumped her up while also refusing to demand that she do interviews.
The New York Times stated that “Vice President Kamala Harris leads former President Donald J. Trump in three crucial battleground states, according to new surveys by The New York Times and Siena College, the latest indication of a dramatic reversal in standing for Democrats after President Biden’s departure from the presidential race remade it.
Ms. Harris is ahead of Mr. Trump by four percentage points in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan, 50 percent to 46 percent among likely voters in each state. The surveys were conducted from Aug. 5 to 9.
The polls, some of the first high-quality surveys in those states since Mr. Biden announced he would no longer run for re-election, come after nearly a year of surveys that showed either a tied contest or a slight lead for Mr. Trump over Mr. Biden.”
A recent poll of Georgia showed Harris and Trump tied at 48 percent.
